BEFORE WE START
A few things
you may be wondering.
What the work includes, how projects are scoped, and what happens next.
Getting started
You can bring a problem before you have a specification.
Cambrian Research, LLC builds business websites, custom software, and practical automation. The work includes customer portals, internal tools, CRM improvements, and systems integration, starting with the way your business actually operates.
Describe the task that is slow, repetitive, or unreliable. You do not need to choose a platform or write a technical specification. A $500 assessment of one workflow or system can provide a prioritized roadmap and a written scope for the next step.
You will work directly with Benjamin Scott, founder of Cambrian Research. His background spans technical service, healthcare technology, robotics, and automation. The approach is to understand the problem, agree on a practical scope, and test the result together.
Cambrian Research is based in the Charleston, South Carolina area and serves Charleston and Summerville. Include your location in your inquiry so any remote or on-site requirements can be discussed before the project is scoped.
Explain what your business does, what you want to improve, and what happens today. The tools you use, a rough budget, and any target date are useful context. Leave out passwords, patient records, and other sensitive customer information.
Scope & cost
Clear starting points, followed by a written scope.
It covers one workflow or system: identifying bottlenecks, reviewing constraints, and producing a prioritized roadmap with a written scope for the next step. Implementation is scoped separately.
The starting scope covers up to three core pages and an inquiry form, with agreed scope, testing, and handoff. Extra pages, content preparation, booking, payments, and integrations need to be discussed before pricing is finalized. Hosting, subscriptions, and third-party fees are separate.
Custom software and portals start at $5,000 for one internal workflow. CRM improvements start at $2,500 for one pipeline and one follow-up workflow. Final pricing follows discovery and a written scope; hosting, subscriptions, and third-party fees are separate.
Timing depends on the deliverables, existing systems, access, and review requirements. Share any important dates in your inquiry. Milestones and timing are agreed as part of the scope before development starts.
A change needs to be reviewed against the agreed deliverables, price, and milestones. Raise new requirements as they emerge so their effect on the scope can be discussed before the additional work is undertaken.
Project-specific payment, cancellation, ownership, and support terms should be settled in the written agreement before work begins. Published starting prices describe an initial scope; they are not a substitute for that agreement. All listed prices are in US dollars.
Working together
Understand the work, agree on the scope, then build and test.
Yes. CRM customization and systems integration are part of the offering. The starting point is understanding the current tools and where they fall short, then deciding whether configuration, integration, automation, or a custom tool makes sense.
Not every combination is feasible. Supported APIs, account permissions, subscription plans, data quality, and vendor restrictions all matter. Those constraints need to be checked before an integration is promised or priced.
Someone who understands the current process, examples of the problem, relevant system information, and a person who can review decisions and results. The specific access and review responsibilities are established during scoping.
No. AI is considered when it helps a defined task and its output can be evaluated. Many useful improvements come from better configuration, simpler workflows, or conventional software and integrations.
Testing, documentation, and a useful handover are part of the project approach. The exact materials, walkthroughs, account access, and operating responsibilities should be included in the agreed deliverables so everyone knows what completion means.
Support & information
Know what is included and what to share.
Five hours of technical improvements each month, a shared work list, and a monthly progress review. Additional work is $150/hour with approval. Hours do not roll over; cancel before the next billing cycle. Hosting, subscriptions, and third-party fees are separate.
The published option covers planned technical improvements. It does not establish a 24/7 response commitment. Any response windows, monitoring, maintenance, and urgent support needs must be discussed and included in the written scope.
Ownership, account control, licenses, and handoff access need to be specified in the project agreement. Custom work and third-party products may have different terms; clarify those details before development starts.
Please do not. The inquiry form is for a general project description. Share the business problem without credentials, patient information, payment details, or private customer records. Any necessary access or sensitive data handling needs a separately agreed approach.
The site saves your inquiry for Cambrian Research to review and displays a reference when it succeeds. I’ll follow up by email to discuss fit, scope, and next steps. If a meeting would help, we’ll arrange it by email. Submitting an inquiry does not subscribe you to marketing or commit you to a project.
Yes. Please email benjaminkscott@gmail.com with a short description of your project. We’ll discuss what you need and agree on a meeting time. Calls and meetings are by appointment so I can give your project my full attention.
Your entered details stay in the form so you can retry. Keep the tab open while retrying the same inquiry; the form reuses its request identifier to avoid saving it twice. You can also email benjaminkscott@gmail.com directly. Include your inquiry reference if one was displayed.
